TASTE OF ENAMELING Weekend Intensive Workshop
Saturday, Mar 16 & Sunday, Mar 17, 9:00 am - 12 pm McLean County Art Center, Bloomington, IL I am very excited to announce the first ever enameling classes offered at MCAC! Taste of Enameling will give those unfamiliar with enamels a quick peek into what this exciting medium is all about! Basic skills such as sifting, stencils, sgraffito and firing will be covered in this two-day workshop. All materials and tools are provided and no actual enamel will be consumed! Mondays, 6:30 - 9:00 pm, Mar 18 - April 22 McLean County Art Center, Bloomington, IL The second of our new enameling classes at MCAC, Beginning Enameling will give students a thorough grounding in the basics of this ancient medium, fusing colorful glass powders to metal surfaces. Students will learn to work with both opaque and transparent enamels, using techniques such as sifting, stenciling, sgraffito, stoning and wet-packing, as well as kiln-firing of their work. Both jewelry and 2-dimensional applications will be considered. Registration: $150.00 COLD CONNECTIONS GALORE!!
July 28 - August 2, 2024 Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts, Gatlinburg, TN This week-long, in-person workshop will focus on using 'cold connections' to fasten metals and found or non-traditional materials to one another -- without the need for soldering or adhesives. Students will explore ways to combine paper, wood, leather, plastics and more with metal, using a myriad of hand-made and commercial fasteners such as rivets, tabs, micro-hardware and more! Please join us at the beautiful campus of Arrowmont this summer, in the heart of the Smoky Mountains, for this opportunity to expand your lexicon of connection techniques!
